Does this tool understand what the employer actually means?
No. It does deterministic keyword and pattern matching — the same job description phrased differently can produce different results. It has no understanding of intent, company culture, or context, and it never claims to. Treat every result as a starting point for your own reading of the posting, not a verdict.
Is the job description sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs locally in your browser using JavaScript bundled with this page. Nothing you paste is uploaded, logged, stored, or transmitted to any server — this tool has no backend at all.
Why did it miss an obvious skill or requirement?
The tool matches against a fixed dictionary of common terms, synonyms, and abbreviations. Unusual phrasing, a skill not yet in the dictionary, typos, or non-English terms can all cause a miss. Use the checklist as a helpful first pass, not a complete inventory — always read the full posting yourself.
Why did it flag something that isn't actually a red flag?
Pattern matching produces false positives. For example, a phrase like "5+ years experience with cloud platforms" near a mention of Kubernetes might get flagged even if the years weren't meant to apply specifically to Kubernetes. Every flag lists the exact text it matched so you can judge for yourself.
How is the candidate match score calculated?
It compares the skills and years of experience you enter against the must-have and nice-to-have skills detected in the posting, using a fixed weighted formula shown in the results (must-have coverage weighted highest, then nice-to-have coverage, then experience). It is a rough approximation based only on keyword overlap, not an assessment of your actual qualification.
Does it store the skills or experience I enter for matching?
No. The optional candidate-match fields are processed in memory for that single analysis and are not saved to local storage, cookies, or any server. Refreshing the page clears them.
Can it read job descriptions in any language or format?
It is tuned for English-language postings using Latin-script text, and it does its best with inconsistent formatting, bullet styles, and abbreviations. Non-English postings, scanned images, or heavily templated ATS exports may extract poorly or not at all.
